Portland, Maine

Coastal Italian cooking, done simply and done well.

A small harbourside room, a short menu that changes with the boats and the fields, and wine poured with care.

Three ways to spend an evening with us

The kitchen buys from Casco Bay fishermen and a handful of farms up Route 1. Whatever came in that morning is what you will eat that night, cooked without fuss and finished with good olive oil.

Seasonal tasting menu

Five courses, written the morning of service

Our tasting menu is set by what the boats land and what the farms cut. Expect crudo of whatever came in whole, a hand rolled pasta, a fish course over beans or braised greens, one meat, and something quiet and sweet to finish.

  • Served Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30pm
  • Vegetarian version available with a day's notice
  • Allergies handled directly by the kitchen, just tell us

Private dining room

A room upstairs for fourteen

Old brick, one long walnut table, and a window over the working waterfront. We host rehearsal dinners, birthdays, and small company suppers. You choose a family style menu with us in advance so nobody spends the night reading a card.

  • Seats up to 14 guests, no room hire fee
  • Menus agreed a week ahead with the head chef
  • Available for lunch bookings by arrangement

Wine pairings

Poured from vineyards we have walked

Our list leans on growers from the Damariscotta hills and the Champlain valley, propped up by a handful of small Italian producers we have bought from for years. Add a pairing to the tasting menu, or let the floor team pick a single bottle for the table.

  • Five glass pairing alongside the tasting menu
  • Around forty bottles, half of them under fifty dollars
  • Zero proof pairing made in house with local fruit
Cook the fish that came in. Nothing else.

That line has been taped inside the pass since we opened. It keeps the menu short, the plates honest, and the kitchen talking to the people who actually pull the traps.

We booked the upstairs room for my father's seventieth and I was braced for the usual private dining compromise. Instead the kitchen sent up the same food as the main room, plus a hake dish they had landed that morning. The team let us stay well past our slot without ever making it feel like they were waiting on the table. Half the family has been back since.

The tagliatelle with crab and a lot of black pepper is the best plate of pasta I have eaten in Maine. Ask for the Vermont pet nat with it.

Lovely dinner on a wet Thursday. The pairing was the highlight, they explained each grower without turning it into a lecture. Only gripe is the room gets loud when it fills up, so book early if you want to hear each other.

Dinner is served from 5:30pm, Tuesday to Saturday

We hold a few counter seats back for walk ins each night, but the dining room and the upstairs table go quickly on weekends.
